MACKILLOP FOOTBALL TRIALS
On Friday 27th May, Cameron B, Grace D and Cash S attended the Mackillop Football Trials. Our students had a tremendous try-out with Cash S heading to the Mackillop team to represent our Diocese. Well Done!
SCPS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Well done to our St Brigid's students who competed in the Catholic Schools Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek last Tuesday. Grace D (8th) and Rio M (16th) both produced mighty efforts for the Wollongong Diocese Mackillop team. Awesome effort!
ILLAWARRA HAWKS VISIT
We had a wonderful opportunity on Monday with a visit from Tim from the Hawks. He gave some excellent advice about healthy choices and ran some super fun basketball drills. Everyone learnt a lot and had a go, as well as having a great time.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Our 2022 school Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 28 June 2022 at Beaton Park. We are looking forward to having another sports event!
The carnival will consist of tabloid events, sprint events, as well as 200 and 800 metre races for ages 8 - 13 years as a pathway for Diocesan events. The school has been advised by Beaton Park that the TRACK ONLY is to be used as the field area is still affected by the recent extreme weather. As a result we will be splitting our time at the track into age groups and running the 800m in the crossover time as well as a community welcome and recess together.
We have worked to try and have a community sport event, keeping in mind that we are completely limited to the hard surface and the grandstand, hence the limited numbers of students on the track at one time.
Please see the table below for detailed information so that you are able to watch your child participate.
The students will walk to Beaton Park and back with St Brigid’s staff.
Ages 5 - 9 years students will be walking back to school at the conclusion of recess to continue their learning for the remainder of the day.
Ages 10 - 13 years will also be walking back to school at the conclusion of their events to continue their learning for the remainder of the day.
NB. As learning continuity will be prioritised for the remainder of the day, if you opt to take your child/ren home from the carnival this will be considered an unjustified absence.
Students need to wear their sports uniform, a hat, sunscreen and bring enough food and drink for the morning. They are able to wear a plain shirt in their house colour if they would like. In the event of wet weather, a decision will be made on the morning of the carnival and a notification sent via COMPASS.
In order for the carnival to run smoothly, we will need the assistance of parents. If you are able to help on the day, please acknowledge on your Compass event permission note.
