FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

YEAR 5 AND 6 CANBERRA EXCURSION
Students in Year 5 and 6 are currently on their way back from a 2-day education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributed funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Words cannot simply express my gratitude to these wonderfully dedicated teachers for accompanying the students on the overnight excursion. Thank you Mrs Sammut, Mrs Roche, Mrs Mewett, Mrs Brodnik and Mr Boss - you are truly amazing!
I'd like to thank Noel Henry, Head of School Improvement Primary for allowing Mark to attend the excursion with us.

CHANGES TO COVID-19 ISOLATION RULES
Following a change to COVID-19 rules on Friday 14 October 2022, it is no longer mandatory for people who test positive to COVID-19 to self-isolate at home.

What this means for students and school staff

  • If a student or staff member is unwell and has any COVID-19 symptoms, even the mildest of symptoms, they should stay home and test.
  • Students and staff who are unwell with any cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms (whether they have tested positive or not) should not attend school until their symptoms are gone.
  • To limit the possible spread of illness amongst the school community, students and staff displaying COVID-19 symptoms at school will continue to be sent home until their symptoms are gone (students and staff with persistent symptoms, e.g. hayfever, will continue to be able to attend with a letter from their medical practitioner).

Steps we can take to keep our school community safe

  • The most important step we can all take is to stay home when we have cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, and not return to school until the symptoms are gone.
  • Please continue to notify the school if your child tests positive for COVID-19.
  • We strongly encourage all students, staff and visitors to follow NSW Health guidance. We will continue with the COVID-smart measures that have been in place over the last few terms. This includes a combination of encouraging vaccination, supporting mask-wearing (with masks still required in some settings), rapid antigen testing, ventilation, hygiene and enhanced cleaning

UNIFORM POLICY
The presentation of students enrolled at St Brigid's is a high priority. Students wear the school uniform as a reflection of the pride they have in themselves and the school, enhancing its reputation. This policy clearly outlines the boys’ and girls’ summer, winter and sports uniform, including expectations on personal appearance and jewellery, ensuring that students, teachers and parents are aware of details and expectations. Wearing the school uniform is compulsory for all students, and parents/carers are expected to be supportive in ensuring that the policy is upheld.
Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform each day.

ORDER YOUR ST BRIGID'S SCHOOL BAG NOW

The St Brigid's school bag has been a compulsory school item for the past 4 years and part of the school uniform requirements. A long transition period was afforded families, therefore, if you intend replacing your child's school bag for 2023, it must now be a St Brigid's school bag. The quality, size and ergonomic features of the bag make it a very good choice and investment that will last from Kinder - Year 6. The bag can be ordered on Qkr!

This google form can be found on the St Brigid’s website, as a link in the Brigid Bulletin and by clicking the link in the COMPASS news-feed.

Your support in ensuring the health and safety of the St Brigid’s Community during this global pandemic has been greatly appreciated.
