VINNIES VAN FOOD AND TOILETRIES DRIVE
In order to assist with the work of the Vinnies Van we are conducting a week long collection of designated food and toiletries items. Each class has been given a particular item to bring in. These items are listed as essentials for the van to continue to operate in the capacity that it does in assisting our brothers and sisters in need. Please ensure all items are left in your child/children’s classroom by Friday 4 November 2022. Ring pull cans are appreciated.

As a school community, we ‘kicked off’ Socktober for Mission Month with a prayerful liturgy led by Year 6, with the theme, “You will be my witnesses”. In this liturgy, we heard the message from Pope Francis,
Dear brothers and sisters!
These words were spoken by the Risen Jesus to his disciples just before his Ascension into heaven, as we learn from the Acts of the Apostles: “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth” (1:8).
It is a clear message that our responsibility, as children of God, is to respond to the need of others. In 2022, students and their families across Australia will raise funds to support families in Ethiopia facing malnutrition and food insecurity. Our fundraising will help sustain and enrich the lives of vulnerable children who are in need of our support.
The children have accepted a challenge to raise enough money to provide goats to the villages of Ethiopia. The goats provide essential nutrition for the children and extra milk can be made into cheese and butter or provided to local health clinics. Extra milk can be sold to other regions. Each goat costs $50 and each class will need to raise at least this amount to purchase a goat. The more money we raise, the more goats can be purchased.
