NEWS FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

REMEMBRANCE DAY

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is a moment not only to pause and remember all those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts across the world, but also to reflect on the historical events that led to this day of significance.

Originally announced to mark the anniversary of the Armistice that ended fighting with Germany in World War I, Remembrance Day today gives us all the opportunity to acknowledge the service personnel who died while serving in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Year 6, Mrs Roche and Mrs Brodnik led a very beautiful and solemn liturgy for us this morning. Thank you!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT - MATHS OLYMPIAD

During the year selected students from Year 5 and Year 6 have had the opportunity to compete in the Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiad 2022. This is an annual contest in which schools from all over Australia, New Zealand and other neighbouring countries take part. The Olympiads consist of five separate contests held approximately six weeks apart between March and September. In between the contests students have been enjoying developing important mathematical problem solving skills and improving and building upon the skill of reasoning.

It is with great pleasure that I thank Mrs Mewett for the leadership she gave and for providing this wonderful opportunity for the students. Mrs Mewett spoke highly of the students and we congratulate them for  their participation and the enthusiasm they brought to the sessions.

Congratulations to the following students:

MOWING ROSTER- CAN YOU HELP?
This volunteer role is an important one as the money we save from our family mowers goes directly back into purchasing resources for the students. Thank you to the families who have committed to this work over many years and are leaving the school at the end of the year. We were able to get 5 new kinder dads on the roster for 2023 and are looking for a few more. If you can give a couple hours of your time 2-3 times a year, please phone or email the school office so that a roster can be established for 2023.

RESPIRATORY ILLNESS PROCEDURES - GOOGLE FORM

Please continue to fill in the reporting google form if your child has even the mildest of respiratory symptoms or has tested Positive for COVID-19.

The information contained in this form gives me very good data about prevailing illness in the school which I can communicate to parents to help us all work together to ensure the health and safety of our community.

This google form can be found on the St Brigid’s website, as a link in the Brigid Bulletin and by clicking the link in the COMPASS news-feed.

Your support in ensuring the health and safety of the St Brigid’s Community during this global pandemic has been greatly appreciated.

REPORTING FORM

Please complete it any day or time of the week, including weekends. The information will automatically come to Ms Uroda and Mrs Sammut.
