K-6 MERIT AWARDS IMPLEMENTATION:

  • The Principal has the overall responsibility to implement this policy and will assign the responsibility of coordinating awards to teachers and the Assistant Principal.
  • Awards will be given out at Assembly each Friday during the school term according to the awards weekly schedule unless there are extenuating circumstances such as a public holiday, a whole school event (causing cancellation of assembly) or a class is on an event such as school camp or an excursion.
  • Awards will be presented by the school’s Student Leaders and Assistant Principal and Principal who organise and present assembly each week.
  • Teachers must ensure they have their awards completed each Thursday afternoon to allow enough time for assembly preparation.

Awards are based on merit and achievement, not on equality or encouragement. This is important so that appropriate recognition is awarded to students who display excellence in all school life.
