FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S DESK

AN AUTHOR IN OUR MIDST - Isobel. F (Year 6)

Isobel in Year 6 has published her first book! She has been writing this novel since June this year. Izzy was inspired by the Warrior Cat series and I am so pleased that she has been able to masterfully write a very creative story packed for of action and adventure, aimed at 8-12 year olds. I would like to also thank Isobel's friends, Evie B and Abby H who provided feedback to Isobel and suggested some ideas along the way. A copy has been printed for Year 6 to read and a personal copy has also been printed for Izzy to treasure. Congratulations Isobel, you have a special talent, keep working on it! You can read Izzy's story, 'The Bloodstained Forest' here.

Please talk to your child/children about what nude food is and ask them to help prepare a nude food lunch-box. Some ideas are in the handout below. Our SRC will be showing the students examples of Nude Food lunch boxes. We thank you kindly for your support as we work together to care for our common home ... this beautiful planet.

RESPECT FOCUS WEEK 6: SAYING SORRY

Saying Sorry is:

  • understanding and accepting that what you have done is wrong
  • saying sorry for what you have done
  • saying sorry for the way you made someone feel
  • saying you won’t do it again
  • showing by your actions that you are really sorry

Saying Sorry is not:

  • arguing and not accepting that what you have done is wrong.
  • refusing to say sorry for what you have done
  • not considering the way others feel
  • repeating disrespectful behaviour
  • pretending you are sorry

RESPECT FOCUS WEEK 7 & 8: HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

Healthy Relationships are:

  • when someone makes me feel good about myself
  • when I feel like I belong and I matter
  • when my friends and trusted adults listen to me

Healthy Relationships are not:

  • when someone makes me feel bad about myself
  • when someone makes me feel unsafe
  • when people ignore me and don’t listen to me

Each week, we will have a whole school respect focus that will be explicitly taught. Students will engage in role play scenarios to support their understanding of respect and how to treat each other with respect.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND FAREWELL

Screen Shot 2022-11-29 at 1.34.36 pm.png

My time at St Brigid's has sadly come to an end. I have loved every minute with the amazing students, hardworking and compassionate staff and generously spirited parents and carers.

The past two years have given me an energy I did not know I had and spurred me on to working for excellence in faith, justice and learning with this wonderful community. Your children have shown me that being in a school community as vibrant as St Brigid's is where life and love resides.

I am so grateful for this opportunity afforded me, and I am especially thankful to Kathy Uroda who has been an amazing mentor and colleague. I will always remember St Brigid's, the staff and parish, students, parents and carers. I wish you all a holy and blessed Christmas spent with family and good friends, enjoying the spirit of giving and togetherness.
