CARITAS LAUNCH
Thank you to Emerson E and Amelia E-B  who accompanied me to the Diocesan Launch for Project Compassion, our annual fundraising campaign that spans across the six weeks of Lent every year.  It was a wonderful occasion to come together. Thanks too to Ainsley who provided a comfortable uber service for us!!!!!

MISSION EFFORT FAMILY DAY - ST PATRICK'S DAY
Once of the stories we heard about at the launch was about Laxmi. After losing her father at a young age, Laxmi was vulnerable to falling further into extreme poverty. But with the support of Caritas Nepal, Laxmi joined a child’s club, became a leader in her school and is now a mentor to other girls in her village.
The Year 6 leaders, along with the SRC, have set a very ambitious, but I believe, very achievable goal for our school during this lent. They would like to raise $3000 to buy all the resources required to build a library in Nepal. How fantastic would that be for the students in Nepal.
We are planning a great day of learning, fun, fundraising, prayer and parent engagement on Friday 17 March 2023. Parents are invited to join us from 12:30pm and to stay for the following events:
12:30pm Liturgy in St Brigid's Church
1:10pm Family lunch in the playground
2:10pm Guided learning walks in the classrooms
There will also be lots of fun activities and a special morning tea for the students. They can bring their spending money also for some of the games and activities. All profits will go towards our target of .......

LAUNCH OF THE NEW DIOCESAN STRATEGIC PLAN

At last night's Education Mass, Bishop Brian and our Director of Schools, Peter Hill officially launched our new strategic plan, Lighting The Way 2023+

The plan is now available to view on any device. (https://ltw.dow.catholic.edu.au/) LTW2023+ names the priorities we see when we examine the contemporary challenges and opportunities before us. Bringing these priorities to life will require our collective heads, hearts and hands working towards a common purpose.

Mr Hill wishes to thank the thousands of staff, students, and others members of our school communities who contributed to the development of LTW2023+.

UNIFORM POLICY
The St Brigid's Uniform Policy was recently reviewed and updated by the St Brigid's Leadership Team and is available on our website, on COMPASS or by clicking the PDF link below. Elements of the policy were explained to the students by the classroom teachers this week.

There is now an additional section for mufti days to ensure the attire of students is conducive to their learning, activities and safety.

We thank you for supporting the St Brigid's uniform policy.

PICK UP PROCEDURES
Just a few reminders regarding the end of day procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff.

CAR PICK UP - Please do not block the traffic in Vickery Street. Stay in the left hand lane and pull out around the parked cars where Ms Uroda stands to call the names. We receive daily complaints from other users and some of these complaints can be abusive.

PARENT PICK UP IN PLAYGROUND
We are required to have line of sight and release our duty of care to parents who are waiting in the playground. Once this has occurred your child/ren must stay with you. We ask that you promptly leave from the playground as we have a lot of students at after school care and the gates need to be shut for their safety.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Parent volunteers play an important role in modern education. Not only are they great resources for teachers and a solid support for our school community, but parent volunteers also demonstrate to their children and others that school is important and worth the time and effort.
We have had a wonderful response to our lawnmowing group with 21 parents volunteering to be on the roster. Thank you to the car parking volunteers and to all those who assisted Caterina for the pancake breakfast.
If you can assist in parking cars at any of the upcoming St George Dragons games, please add your name to the roster.  CLICK HERE

AN INVITATION FOR STUDENTS IN YEAR 4-6 TO TRAIN AS ALTAR SERVERS

Students (girls and boys) who have received their First Holy Communion are invited to train and become an Altar Server. Altar servers assist the priest in the Mass, and greatly improve the smoothness and solemnity of divine worship, facilitating a celebration which enables everyone to enter more deeply into its mysteries.

Children who are altar servers are guided by senior (adult) altar servers as they learn their roles. Altar servers often express that they feel much more invested in the Mass, have better knowledge of what they are doing, and experience a sense of contributing and belonging to the wider Catholic community.

The St Brigid’s scheduled training sessions for Altar Servers will be held during class time each Wednesday during the month of March.

Why become an altar server?

  • Altar serving is a way of actively participating in the Mass.
  • Altar servers have a privileged place in the Mass, it is not only a duty but a great honour.
  • By volunteering to become an Altar Server, you are entering a ministry of service where reverence, dedication, attentiveness, quick-thinking, and commitment are needed in order to perform the role properly.

What is required?

  • Altar servers must have received their First Holy Communion.
  • Altar servers will be rostered on to serve during school Masses, the regular weekday Mass at St Brigid’s (Thursday 9:30am), and once confident, join the roster of weekend Masses at St Brigid’s Church.
  • Altar servers will attend 4 x 30-minute training sessions held in the St Brigid’s Church with Fr James Arblaster and Ms Sarah O’Donnell (REC). These will be during school hours.

If your child is interested in this program for St Brigid’s, please fill in the expression of interest form by clicking on the link. CLICK HERE
