MISSION EFFORT FAMILY DAY - ST PATRICK'S DAY
What a brilliant day was had by all last Friday as we came together to experience what the St Brigid's mission means, 'to be develop leaders of faith, justice and leanring'. From the beautiful liturgy, to the stalls and activities and the guided learning walks in the afternoon we shared a wonderful community celebration. I would like to sincerely thank the students and teachers  in Year 3,4,5 and 6 who lead the day. Thank you to the families who  prepared scrumptious cupcakes and jelly cups and donated prizes and raffle items. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Thank you one and all for your cooperation and generosity. We raised a whopping $1152.00 on this day. A giant step towards our goal of $3000 to buy the resources needed to build a library in Nepal.

RICE DAY - CONGRATULATIONS YEAR 6

Yesterday the Year 6 students and their teachers participated in a 'fasting day' for Lent, only eating a simple bowl of rice for lunch.  This day provided the students the opportunity to consider the many people around the world who have so little to eat daily and an awareness of what it would be like to not have the abundance of food we normally enjoy.

The small bowl of rice in place of their normal lunch reinforced students’ understanding of what some children in impoverished communities eat each day. Ainsley, Michael and Louise cooked and served the rice for this event. They expressed  there congratulations to the students and their families for the commitment and passion shown to be involved in such an event.

The students were so eager and willing to participate in Rice Day, and to date, have raised $1000 for Caritas’s Project Compassion. They came away with the message that their donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference to families in communities that are less fortunate.

CAR PICK UP - Please do not block the traffic in Vickery Street. Stay in the left hand lane and pull out around the parked cars where Ms Uroda stands to call the names. We receive daily complaints from other users and some of these complaints can be abusive.

PARENT PICK UP IN PLAYGROUND
We are required to have line of sight and release our duty of care to parents who are waiting in the playground. Once this has occurred your child/ren must stay with you. We ask that you promptly leave from the playground as we have a lot of students at after school care and the gates need to be shut for their safety.

UNIFORM POLICY
The St Brigid's Uniform Policy was recently reviewed and updated by the St Brigid's Leadership Team and is available on our website, on COMPASS or by clicking the PDF link below. Elements of the policy were explained to the students by the classroom teachers this week.

There is now an additional section for mufti days to ensure the attire of students is conducive to their learning, activities and safety.

We thank you for supporting the St Brigid's uniform policy.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Parent volunteers play an important role in modern education. Not only are they great resources for teachers and a solid support for our school community, but parent volunteers also demonstrate to their children and others that school is important and worth the time and effort.
We have had a wonderful response to our lawnmowing group with 21 parents volunteering to be on the roster. Thank you to the car parking volunteers and to all those who assisted Caterina for the pancake breakfast.
If you can assist in parking cars at any of the upcoming St George Dragons games, please add your name to the roster.  CLICK HERE
