 CYCLIC INQUIRY 2024

This year, St Brigid's will undertake a School Cyclic Inquiry (SCI) process. School Cyclic Inquiry is part of the continuous cycle of Catholic school improvement. It is a collaborative, school-led inquiry process that generally occurs once every four years

SCI is not a one off ‘inspection’ but a unique opportunity for the St Brigid’s community and the leadership team to stop, reflect (inquire) and celebrate our improvement and growth journey and to identify a limited number of major strategic priorities that will further enhance student growth into the future.

The SCI process examines the evidence-based growth in the culture of the school as a faith and learning community and as a connected community of care, with close attention to sustainable opportunities for growth in that culture.

Screenshot_2024_02_14_at_9.22.22_pm.png

It includes:

  • A preparatory period of self-reflection led by the school principal and Leadership Team—involving consultation with stakeholders, engagement with system data, and evaluation using research-based performance characteristics found in the School Improvement Tool (SIT), as well as close examination of the Living Catholicity Domain and provocations.
  • A period of inquiry and review led by an external panel of educators —involving interviews, observation and collaborative discussion with the school leadership team, staff, parents, students, clergy and the wider school community. The panel spends time in classroom learning walks.
  • Survey data gathered from local stakeholders; students, teachers and parents using the Tell Them From Me survey (see the information below)

TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY (TTFM)

Over the coming week we invite students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.

Screenshot_2024_02_14_at_9.42.47_pm.png

We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. Tell Them From Me is a suite of surveys developed by The Learning Bar, and used extensively across Australia. The student, teacher, and Parent/Caregiver surveys will enable us to understand the factors that are known to have a direct and profound impact on well-being and student learning.

As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and well-being at St Brigid’s Gwynneville.

The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The parent survey window for St Brigid’s is Friday 16 February to Friday 1 March 2024. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the URL below:

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

download.jpg

Parents and /or carers who wish to walk or pick up from school are encouraged to use the Pedestrian gate on Gipps Road (next to the Church) and to park in this vicinity. Not only will this allow for a better flow of traffic on Vickery Street as parents leave the car zone, the crossing in Gipps Street is manned by a NSW School crossing supervisor.

If you do have to access the children's crossing in Vickery Street please be mindful of the flow of traffic. Unfortunately, there are too many impatient drivers on the road that are overtaking and dangerously entering the wrong side of the road and then trying to merge back close to our children's crossing.

The pedestrian gate in Gipps Road is opened from 8:30 - 8:55am and 2:45 - 3:10pm

CAR ZONE PROCEDURES

download_1.jpg

Please follow all the school procedures and traffic rules to ensure the smooth operation of our car zone but even more importantly, for the safety and well being of all our families.

Please do not queue and block the traffic in Vickery Street. You must do a lap of the block or time your arrival when the zone is not so congested. Please do not use technology or be on your phone in the car zone.

The car zone has a 2 minute limit. As we commence calling names from 2:55pm-3:10pm. please do not enter the zone until 2:53pm. Heavy fines can be given as a result of parking in this zone.

Yours in Faith, Justice and Learning
