FAITH
COMMENCEMENT MASS 2024
At the St Brigid's Feast Day Mass, we prayed for our elected student leaders and inducted them into their new leadership positions for 2024. As a school community we recognise and acknowledge the importance of the special role that they will play in our school community; not just as peers, but also as mentors for the students at St Brigids.
Thank you to Mrs Arthur-Worsop and the Year 4 class for leading such a prayerful Mass. The readers proclaimed so confidently and the cantors sang beautifully. All students actively participated in the Mass through their fabulous singing, clear responses and prayerful gestures. Well done one and all!

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2024
If your child has been baptised in the Catholic Faith, you have already begun preparations for their reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. From the moment of their birth, you have shared your Faith with your children in your love, words, actions and prayers. This is an essential component in their faith formation.
Receiving the Sacraments is a very blessed time in our journey of faith, and it is the means by which baptised children can complete their journey into full membership of the Catholic Church. They are community events, which remind us of the role of the parish community in the development of our life of faith, hope, and love.
Students in Year 6, who have received the Sacrament of Baptism, Reconciliation and First Eucharist are eligible to enrol in the Sacrament of Confirmation.

LENT 2024
This week, our students began preparing for their Lenten journey.
Our students had a lovely day learning about Shrove Tuesday and loved eating their yummy pancakes! Shrove Tuesday is a day observed by followers of the Christian faith all around the world and it marks the last day before Lent (Ash Wednesday).
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. On Ash Wednesday, our Kindergarten, Year 1 and a group of our Year 2 students attended mass. Bishop Brian Mascord placed ashes on the students’ forehead as a reminder that Jesus’s victory can become our own, and our lives don’t have to end when our bodies turn to dust again. The three traditional practices of Lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. A commitment to these practices during Lent leads to an awareness of God and conversion of the heart. Many Catholics spend time pondering what they could give up during Lent. Here are some other ideas to consider:
10 Things to Do During Lent Besides Giving Something up:
- Each day, tell your child something that makes them unique
- Volunteer
- Go to a weekday Mass
- Say three nice things to your husband or wife, siblings, parents, colleagues and kids daily.
- Be kind
- Donate things you don’t need to charity
- Replace 30 minutes of TV/computer/phone time with 30 minutes of prayer/quiet time
- Don’t complain
- Don’t buy anything that you don’t need
- Donate to Project Compassion
PROJECT COMPASSION LAUNCH
On Tuesday, Mrs Checkley (REC) was accompanied by our Faith and School Representative Council leaders, Simon C and Briella, as they attended the Project Compassion launch at John Therry Catholic High School. A special thanks to Briella's grandma, Wanda, who attended this event and for driving them to and from the venue.
We invite all families to partner with us by providing support and donations to help build futures of hope for people most in need around the world.
Further information of how your family can support Project Compassion over the Lenten season will be shared over the coming weeks.
CLASS MASS TIMETABLE FOR TERM 1
Each term, our students are provided with the opportunity to attend mass with our St Brigid parishioners. Mass is a central aspect of our students’ faith formation and greatest act of worship and sacred celebration of community.
Parents, carers, grandparents and relatives are invited to attend mass, and are especially encouraged to come along when their child(ren) are involved. Morning tea is served after each Mass and is fabulous opportunity to meet other parents and members of our parish community. You are also welcome to go to the classroom for a 10-15minute learning walk. Please see the schedule for Term 1:

THANK YOU FROM MRS CHECKLEY
Thank you to all members of the school community who have taken the time to come and introduce themselves and welcome me into the St Brigid’s school community. I am truly blessed to be the new Religious Education Coordinator and Year 3 teacher at this beautiful school.
