NAPLAN REPORTS
Students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 participated in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) during Term 1.
A NAPLAN individual student report will be provided for the Year 3 and Year 5 students early in Term 3. The same report format is used for every student in Australia.
NAPLAN results are reported against proficiency standards. There is a standard for each assessment area at each year level. Proficiency standards provide clear information on student achievement. Student achievement is shown against 4 levels of proficiency:
- Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
- Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
- Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
- Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes that are expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

YEAR 3&4 EXCURSION
On Wednesday 12 June 2024, Year 3 and 4 students went to The Rocks in Sydney to immerse themselves in early settler and convict life.
When we got there, each student had the opportunity to dress up as a captain, free settler, convict or soldier. They learned about the lives of these real life historical figures.
Students walked down Nurses Walk, where they learned about the first hospital. They also learned more about Captain Tench (who wrote about the early European settlement of Sydney) and a convict called Francis Greenway who had the opportunity to put his architect skills to great use across Sydney. We discovered that, when convicts came, they built houses and wrote their initials on the sandstones.
The Rocks staff, who lead so many school tours, were overwhelmingly complimentary about our Year 3 and 4 students’ engagement and behaviour.
We had our lunch in front of the harbour before being led in some physical games. The students really enjoyed it, and learned lots of facts for their history unit. The staff did too!
