PRINCIPAL'S REFLECTION
Dear families and friends of St Brigid's,
Today is the Feast day of our Australian saint, Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Mary lived a life of simplicity and humility, choosing to live among the people she served. Her willingness to give up everything for her mission serves as a powerful reminder of her service to her community. Mary's spirit highlights her courage in confronting injustice. She was fierce in her determination to ensure fairness, especially when it came to the dignity of the poor and disregarded. This encourages us to advocate for justice and equality in our own communities. Mary believed in the transformative power of education to lift communities out of poverty and enable individuals to reach their full potential. She made it her mission to provide an education for all regardless of gender, race or wealth. Mary experienced many challenges and hardships, but she trusted in God and persevered with her faith and mission. She is a true example of compassion, courage, service and justice. It has struck me that our mission is… Inspired by our Catholic Values and the Benedictine tradition, we are committed to developing leaders of faith, justice and learning. This is very much in line with what Mary was striving to achieve and the values to Mary lived her life; compassion, courage and service are three of the four school values that we as a connected community embody in word and action everyday.
Welcome to Term 3, I am humbled by the warm welcome back that I have received from the entire St Brigid’s community. It has been two years since I was a part of this amazing community and I am very grateful to be welcomed back for a period of time while Mr Uroda enjoys some renewal time. I have absolutely loved reconnecting with the students from Years 3-6, and getting to know any new students and the students in Years K-2. I will be Acting Principal from weeks 1-6 inclusive. Please know I am here to serve the students, staff and our wonderful parent community, so if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Parish Visitation
On Friday and Saturday 26-27 July we welcomed Bishop Brian Mascord to our school and parish to meet with staff, students and parents and to celebrate Mass with the parish community. It was an opportunity to celebrate our connectedness and common purpose as a vibrant catholic community. Bishop Brian visited our Year 6 students and chatted to them about their journey at St Brigid’s and their aspirations for their future.
