PRINCIPAL'S REFLECTION

Dear families and friends of St Brigid's,

I would like to share with you a short piece of scripture that gives me comfort and courage:‘Go into the deep and drop your nets’. Luke 5:4

Put simply, this means to listen to God, even when it doesn't make sense or feels messy, and be brave enough to act on it.

I often find one piece of inspiration or personal meaning from scripture and this line from Luke is something I can resonate with. Go into the deep is about God telling you to do something that feels scary, risky, or goes against your own judgement. It's a call to move beyond what's comfortable and familiar and to have courage and take a leap of faith, knowing God is there to guide you. Drop your nets is your part. It's the act of courageously doing what God is asking. It's letting go of self doubts and fears and taking that leap of faith.

The simple message is that God's plan is often bigger and better than our own, but we have to be willing to trust Him and take a chance. When we do, the results can be miraculous and far beyond what we could have achieved on our own.

When have you felt despair, scared or challenged lately? This is being in the deep. Did you seek God for guidance in these moments and if so did you act with courage or drop your nets?

Happy Father’s Day!

I wish all the fathers, fathers to be, grandfathers and father figures in our school community a very happy Father’s Day. I hope you feel the love on Sunday 7 September. Please come along to our Father’s Day brekky and Digit’s with Dad Open Houses on Thursday 4th September from 8:00am. We can’t wait to spoil you!

Farewell for now and Thank you!

Amy.jpgI would like to say farewell for now to you all as I complete my 6 week stint as Acting Principal at this very special school. Let me tell you, I have loved every moment connecting and reconnecting with all the students and parents/carers. It has felt like coming home. I am humbled in the fact that I will be returning as the substantive Principal in 2026 and I am so excited to begin this journey with the students, families, staff and parishioners. In the meantime, I return to my role as Assistant Principal at St Michael’s in Thirroul.

I would like to thank and acknowledge the wonderful leadership team, teachers, staff, Fr Bernard and parishioners for their support of me and the beautiful and ongoing welcome I have felt. I would also like to thank you, the parents and carers for making me feel humbled and welcome in this vibrant community. I feel very blessed to have had this opportunity and I look forward to working alongside you as partners in your children’s faith, learning and wellbeing journey.

We welcome Ms Uroda back from her renewal leave in Week 7. I have heard she is feeling refreshed and has an amazing tan. Hopefully she brings some sun and warmth with her to Gwynneville.

All who attended had the most amazing night, sharing laughs, great food thanks to Caitlyn ( Delta and Zoe's mum - Kinder) Shiso Fine - Japanese infusion and games galore. I can't thank our P and F President, Lauren and her team, April, Romina and Mark enough for their dedication to ensuring this was a wonderful night. Thank you to all who supported by purchasing a ticket and supporting the games and raffles on the night. The money raised will go towards a fun filled activity for our students later this year.
