PRINCIPAL'S REFLECTION
This Sunday’s Gospel from Luke (16:1–13) presents the parable of the dishonest steward, a story that may at first seem puzzling. The steward is called to account for mismanaging his master’s resources, and, facing uncertainty about his future, he takes clever steps to secure his position. Jesus uses this story to invite us into a deeper reflection on the way we live our lives, the choices we make, and how we use the gifts and responsibilities entrusted to us.
At its heart, this parable challenges us to consider what we truly value and how our actions affect others. It reminds us that life is not just about managing resources or looking after ourselves, it is about relationships, trust, and using what we have wisely to make a positive difference in the world.
As we reflect on this Gospel, let us ask ourselves how we can live with compassion, courage, service, and stewardship in our daily lives. May we make choices that honour our school values.
Compassion
The steward’s story reminds us that our choices impact the lives of others. Even when faced with difficult circumstances, we are called to act with empathy and kindness, seeking the good of those around us. Compassion encourages us to care deeply for our family, friends, and wider community.
Courage
Facing challenges with integrity requires courage. Like the steward, we sometimes encounter situations that test us. Courage is about making the right choices, even when it is difficult, uncomfortable, or uncertain.
Service
The steward’s role was to serve his master, and we too are called to serve others. Service means using our talents, time, and resources to help those in need and to contribute positively to the lives of others.
Stewardship
Ultimately, this parable teaches the importance of stewardship and responsibly managing the gifts and resources entrusted to us. Whether it is our skills, time, or material possessions, we are called to use them wisely, not only for our own benefit but for the good of our families, school, and the wider community.
