GRANDPARENTS, GODPARENTS AND GOOD FRIENDS DAY
Thank you to Mrs Arthur-Worsop, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Cuff and our wonderful Year 1 and Kindergarten students who lead a beautiful Liturgy of the Word last Monday for our celebration of G'day. We thank Mrs Helen Crocco, who shared her wise and humorous words about what it means being a grandparent. After the moving liturgy, a scrumptious devonshire morning tea was served in the Hall. Thank you to Monica and Rebecca for their annual sponsorship of deliciously baked scones and perfectly whipped cream. We value your generosity. The time spent in the classrooms was very special and all our G'day guests delighted in the wonderful learning that is happening each and every day in classrooms.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY – 7 NOVEMBER 2019
When teachers take learning outdoors they report some powerful impacts: Student behaviour improves, whole classes are excited to learn, and individuals who feel inhibited by the curriculum often thrive in an outdoor environment.

When adults think back to their own happiest memories of childhood, they frequently recall the joy of playing outdoors. Play is not only central to children’s enjoyment of childhood, but teaches critical life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork and creativity.

The aim of Outdoor Classroom Day was to get as many children as possible playing and learning outside on Thursday 7 November 2019. For everyone, Outdoor Classroom Day acted as a catalyst for more time outdoors every day. Find out more about the benefits of outdoor play and learning and the difference that Outdoor Classroom Day is making in schools around the world.

GARDEN PROJECT

Following the building of our new vegetable garden and the planting of vegetables, herbs and citrus seedlings, our garden is really thriving. Thank you to Mrs Cuff and the Environment Club for taking care of our vegetable garden and picking our recent harvest. The next stage of the project will be establishing our composting method and its location.

STAFFING NEWS

Congratulations to Ms Kelly Young who was the successful applicant for a full-time position at Stella Maris, Shellharbour. Kelly has worked at St Brigid's for 10 years in a variety of roles and we thank her most sincerely for the dedication she has shown to students and their families over this significant time.

Following a recruitment process, Ms Brooke McMahon will join the St Brigid's staff in a full-time temporary position next year.

THANK YOU MS SPARKS

I'd sincerely like to thank Ms Kate Sparks for the commitment and passion she has for all things sport. Entering our senior girls team in the 36th Annual Catholic Primary Schools (CPS) Basketball Challenge required months of training and preparation so that our girls could shine at their much anticipated weekend in Albury. Everyone had a great time and the team performed admirably.

WRITING INSTRUMENTS RECYCLING PROGRAM
Mrs Cuff has registered our school in the Terracycle writing instruments recycling program. We just have to collect all our used plastic markers, pens, highlighters, felt tips, whiteboard markers and liquid paper, instead of throwing them away. We hope you can assist this environmental initiative by sending in your used plastic writing instruments.
