Harmony Week - 20th Anniversary

1.pngIt was with great sadness that we heard about the events that took place in New Zealand, last week.  Our hearts are heavy, as the city of Christchurch and the country of New Zealand come to terms with the devastating actions of a few.

The continuing message of Harmony Week is 'Everyone Belongs'. It is about community participation, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, respect and belonging.

Our Harmony Week Prayer allowed us to do what we, as a catholic community, do best in the face of fear, hurt and anguish; we pray.

Lighting the candles to represent the lives lost, showed the students that the victims are remembered and that their families and friends are held in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.

And so we pray …

That we may love and accept everyone.

Help us to have open hearts and open minds so that we may rejoice in the gifts of all, celebrating a diverse and warm community where all feel valued.

Help us to be people of compassion and justice who willingly and lovingly reach out to others.

We ask this in Jesus’ name.
