R U OK DAY CELEBRATIONS
We hope you enjoyed your day off from supporting your child/children with remote learning last Thursday 9 september, while our Year 6 Leadership Team took on the responsibilty of teaching the students for the day. This allowed our teachers to plan the learning for Term 4 and we hope it gave our parents and carers an opportubity to rest and take a much needed 'break'. Thank you to Year 6 for their willingness and creativity in putting together some engaging videos for the students. Please enjoy some snapshots from the day.
Term 4 REMOTE LEARNING- Please note the CHANGES
There will be significant changes to how we deliver remote learning starting from Week 1 next term. In line with NSW public health orders, we will remain in Phase 4 Restrictions for the first 3 weeks of Term 4 for the whle school. If all goes to plan, we will welcome back Kindergarten and Year 1 on October 25 (Week 4), then we will welcome back Year 2 and year 6 on November 1st (Week 5), followed by Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 on November 8 (Week 6). While in remote learning next term, please be aware of the following changes:
Small Group Instructional Zooms: There will be a focus on small group INSTRUCTIONAL Zooms next term. Teachers will group the students and meet with them via Zoom to explicitly model the learning. Teachers will inform students of when they will have their small group. During small group Zooms, parents can take a break from supporting their child as the teacher's job is to instruct during these small groups and to see what each student is able to understand and do more independently.
WRITING FOCUS: Teachers will be having a targeted focus on writing next term in line with our collaborative inquiry. If your child has an exercise book at home, they will need this to activly participate in the small groups. If they don't have one, could you please purchase one over the holidays for them to use for next term. There will be a focus on pen to paper rather than writing on a device.
Friday Whole class Wellbeing Zoom: Teachers and students will share in prayer, weekly awards will be announced and students will participate in an engagement activity
Friday Non-digital Task Day: Students will be provided with a matrix of non-digital tasks on Fridays after their wellbeing Zoom meeting. 1 group may be asked to stay back for their small group instruction following the wellbeing Zoom
Teacher Planning Time: Fridays from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Teachers will be offline from 1:00pm on Fridays as this is their planning time. If one of your child's teachers does not work on a Friday, they will take their planning time on another day during the week and they will notify their students of this on either Seesaw or Google Classroom. Teachers will ensure students are provided with learning tasks during this time.
YEAR 6 SHORT STORY COMPETITION
Our Year 6 students have entered a short story competition during lockdown and they have worked hard on their entries. It was great to see your creativity and your ability to hand in a DRAFT, receive feedback from your teachers and then respond to that feedback by making changes to improve your story, well done Year 6. Here are some stories for you to read over the holidays:
